About
Water-heavy Nicklaus design with two greens per hole
Set in the beautiful foothills of Soc Son, just 20 minutes from Hanoi airport, BRG Legend Hill Golf Resort is the first golf course in Vietnam to be designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course blends beautifully with the natural surroundings, as fairways pocked with bunkers and lined with mature trees route around numerous lakes and streams. Unusually, ever hole has two greens, meaning you shouldn't face any maintenance issues, and the course can play quite differently depending on the configuration you face.
After a bunker heavy par-4 opener, where use of the left green turns it into quite a severe dogleg, you face a run of water holes, with the par-3 3rd playing over a lake to a tabletop green with twin bunkers front and back and the very pretty 5th featuring water from tee to green.
The 6th is a long par-5 that routes around a lake, with the twin greens on opposite sides of the water. The right hand green provides the most exciting challenge, with the green theoretically within reach if you can get close enough to the edge of the water off the tee, while the 8th is another beautiful par-5 that requires a tee shot over water and an extensive bunker complex in the landing zone for your second shot.
After the turn, the 11th is another memorable par-3 that plays either to a narrow lakeside green or a genuine island green, while there's water to the left of both holes that follow, the 13th a very strong par-5 with a narrow fairway pocked with numerous sand traps.
The closing quartet of holes all feature more water, most memorably at the last, a long par-4 that arcs attractively around a lake. A slight draw off the tee is the needed to thread your way between the bunkers either side of the landing zone, while your approach must flirt with a watery end as you play into a green with sand traps either side and water beyond. It's an intoxicating finish.
The elegant and contemporary clubhouse at BRG Legend Hill Golf Resort sits atop of a hill and offers great views of the golf course and surrounding mountains. Facilities include well appointed locker rooms, a decent restaurant serving local and international fare, as well as a small pro shop.
Reviews
Everything was perfect at the Legends Resort
The most helpful staff ever in the clubhouse, the caddy was very attentive and the course was in immaculate condition. I throughly enjoyed my round here, an example of what a world class golf facility should beThe course was a great layout and design. However, there are lots of dead grass areas on fairways and many of the greens.
It did not meet my expectations. I am a low handicapper and from the write up about this course, I was very disappointed.Souless
It didn’t help that there was a confusion over our booking and when it was fixed we were rushed onto the course and then basically chased round in 3 hours. A breathless and not enjoyable experience. The course layout is good though the alternate greens and distance markers makes it confusing at times. The greens were the slowest we’ve ever played and can be best described as “muddy”. They have a new club house in classic communist mausoleum style, food wasn’t good, perhaps why the restaurant was empty. No point the Golf course looking good if they don’t deliver.Course Info
