Dai Lai Golf Club
About
Enjoyable 27-hole track with water a constant threat
Opened in late 2010, Dai Lai Golf Club near Hanoi sits in a valley at the foot of the Ngoc Thanh Mountain, wrapping around the picturesque Dai Lai Lake from which it takes its name. The course itself is elegantly designed and features plenty of water thanks mainly to the aforementioned lake (particularly on the B and C nines), with strategic bunkering protecting the slick greens and the prime fairway landing areas.
While the A Course is the least water-heavy of the three nines, at the 3rd it comes into play in a serious way, with the fairway at this long par 5 tightly bordered on both sides by water in the landing zone for your second. On approach, you must carry the stream that runs in front of the green and avoid the twin bunkers either side.
On the B and C Courses, water is a factor on every hole, with hole 1B starting with a tee shot over water and an approach that must skirt the lake and avoid the pair of bunkers to the right of the green. The par 3s on the B course stand out, with the 4th playing over water to a green guarded by one of the largest bunkers on the course, and the 8th featuring an island green and a bunker just short of the putting surface.
The C course kicks off with a great right-angle dogleg par 5, where your drive must stop short of the water and your second must stop short enough to allow you to carry the trees and the lake that unusually sit in front of the green. After that, there's another pair of par 3s with water from tee to green (the 3rd and the 6th), while the 8th features an usual split fairway offering two routes to the green; both require a water carry, but if you can go long and find the left side of fairway, you can take the bunker just in front of the green out of play.
The clubhouse is fairly basic, with one restaurant, adequate changing areas and a small pro shop. However, with the course itself an enjoyable challenge, as evidenced by the crowds that descend on the weekend, it's still well worth the trip to Dai Lai Golf Club on your next golf holiday in Hanoi.

Nice course located on Ho Dai Lai lake with lots of water hazards. Great service in the club house. The pace was slow, because we were asked to team up with 3 different parties during 18 holes!Course Info
